Verbum Nobile

Historię narodów spisali kronikarze.

Narody wspominają ich z szacunkiem.

Każda rodzina ma swoją historię, choć nie każda swoich kronikarzy.

Dear Readers,

It is with great honour and pleasure that we wish to present to you the twentieth issue of our magazine! It is the first issue, however, to be almost entirely bilingual. We would like to express our thanks to the Authors and the Persons involved in its creation, but most importantly, to our Dear Readers. We hope that we will successfully continue to publish Verbum Nobile on a regular basis, constantly developing it, our primary goal being the Readers' satisfaction.

Last year our association celebrated the 20th anniversary of its existence. You might want to check out our brief account of the event, together with some reprints of interviews from other magazines that were published on that occasion.

The year 2017, in turn, marks the hundredth anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. That is why we chose to publish articles that focus on several families of the Eastern Borderlands of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Apart from that, we also encourage Our Readers to take a look at other texts close to the profile of our Association, written not without a pinch of humour, such as "Scribbles also create a history". And, speaking of associations, we profile the European CILANE organization, as well as the history of academic corporations. Last, but not least, we would like to draw your attention to an interesting interview with professor Krzysztof Zanussi, who never fails to give food for thought.

On top of that, we've allocated room for articles on slightly different themes, such as wines and automobiles, for instance in the article "Lunch for four", which features a distinctly British-styled sense of humour.

On behalf of the Editors, we hope you enjoy this  issue of Verbum Nobile!

Henryk Grocholski
